It is kind of cliché but it was a dream of Margi’s to own a bed and breakfast. Thinking it would be a good early retirement project, Doug said “why wait, let’s do it now!” And 21 years later they are innkeepers extraordinaire. They love what they do and get a kick out of “exceeding guest expectations” such as a surprise bottle of Champagne for an anniversary celebration or unexpected tickets to one of their favorite museums or tours. Working as a team in the kitchen, Doug and Margi present two courses for breakfast to a table full of guests sharing their adventures in Wilmington. They serve with fresh fruit, homemade muffins, juice and locally roasted Guatemalan coffee. The second course may be eggs Florentine, artichoke mushroom quiche, stuffed French toast or banana upside down pancake. You can find coffee brewing in the kitchen at 7:30 am; come in and get it! Wilmington is a great river town but also a beach town as four beaches are just 15 to 30 minutes close. They offer beach towels and chairs if you are going to the beach. Just ask!
