It is impossible not to feel good about supporting Florious. They only have a few products right now, but they are all made from recycled soda bottles, so from an environmental perspective you cannot do any better. Furthermore, the companies founder, Gerry Kirk, is using the the money they generate to fund “a life of adventure on the road” for his family. This is may be the farthest thing from a faceless mega-company that you will ever find. Now, on to the review:
The Florious 3 piece packing cube + laundry bag set comes with three cubes and a good sized laundry bag, the dimensions are noted below.
- Large (17.5″ x 12.75″ x 3.25″)
- Medium (13.75″ x 9.75″ x 3″)
- Small (11″ x 6.75″ x 3″)
- Laundry Bag
Pros & Cons
The cubes are well made, the heavy duty ripstop nylon is tough but not bulky. The YKK zippers truly are “premium” with additional rope pull tabs. The mesh window that covers about 1/3 of the top is also constructed of heavy duty nylon, and while I suspect most people love being able to see what is inside, it does have the potential to allow dust into the cube. The sizes of these cubes are excellent, I could easily envision getting another set so that I could mix and match sizes based on my needs for a specific trip.
The bottom line is that these are supremely functional packing cubes, they are well made, sized appropriately, and competitively priced. For me, the true differentiation for this product comes from the company itself. As I noted in the opening summary, the environmental responsibility and the family mission behind Florious makes it unique. However, I was also pleasantly surprised by the followup emails I received after the cubes arrived from Amazon. They included links to articles on how to use packing cubes, how to give feed back, and even how to contact Gerry, the founder of Florious. So, while I found the quality of the product to be top rate, I found the quality of the people behind the product to be equally as impressive.
